Void works entirely on your device. Meditating needs no account: the welcome screen offers Continue without an account, and everything the app does works that way, forever. If you do choose to sign in, we store your email address, a display name, and an avatar emoji – nothing else about you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous crash reports and anonymous usage analytics (described below, with an in-app switch to turn analytics off), and – if you choose to leave a voluntary tip – the purchase information processed by Apple or Google and RevenueCat.
The following data is created and stored locally on your device only:
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any server. If you back up your device via iCloud, this data may be included in your device backup – this is controlled by your device settings, not by us. You can export a copy of everything Void stores on your device from Settings → Export my data.
Heart rate syncing is not part of the version of Void you can install today: the app asks for no Health permission and reads no Health data. This section describes how the feature would work if it ships in a future update, and is kept here so the behaviour is documented before it exists.
With your permission, heart rate data is read from HealthKit only during active meditation sessions to synchronise your breathing guide rhythm. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. It is not stored after your session ends. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or similar purposes, and we never disclose it to data brokers, advertising platforms, or analytics providers. You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
If you enable practice reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. Void does not use push notifications: no push token is created and nothing about your reminders is sent to any server.
Void offers optional, voluntary tips. Payment is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play – we never see or store your payment details. To deliver and validate purchases we use RevenueCat, which receives a random app-generated user identifier, your device type and OS version, and the transaction receipt (product, price, currency, timestamp). RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment card details. Tips unlock nothing and are never required to use any part of the app.
We use Sentry to collect crash reports so we can fix bugs. These include:
Crash reports are stripped of personal content (mantra text, audio file paths, recordings) before transmission, and we do not attach your name, email, or any account identifier. Your IP address is used transiently by Sentry to receive the report and is not stored with the event by us.
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to collect anonymous usage events such as:
In the app, analytics never carry your name, email, advertising ID (IDFA/GAID), or any cross-app tracking. If you use Void without an account, events carry a random identifier only. If you sign in, events carry the account ID we issue you – an opaque number of our own, never an advertising or device identifier – so your own funnel stays coherent to us. Your IP address may be processed transiently to receive events and derive a coarse region; we do not use it to identify you. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. (The website, voidmind.app, uses a different, cookieless identification method – see the next section.)
You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Data → Share anonymous analytics. Crash reporting remains on, as it contains no personal information and is needed to keep the app working.
The voidmind.app website is a separate surface from the app, with its own analytics behaviour, described here in full.
void_v cookie. The site runs a copy test (which version of the page's wording you see). To show you the same version consistently instead of a different one on every visit, the site sets a small cookie named void_v containing a single digit that identifies which version you were shown. This cookie is set regardless of your cookie-banner choice, because it is strictly necessary to serve you a consistent page and carries no analytics or tracking purpose of its own – it does not identify you, and it is not used for anything other than picking which page copy to render.
You can use Void without an account, and nothing about the practice changes if you do. The welcome screen offers three ways to sign in, and a fourth option to continue without one.
What we store when you sign in: your email address, a display name, and an avatar emoji. That is the whole list. Your practice history, reflections, recordings, and settings stay on your device and are not uploaded.
Your email address is kept in a table that no one using the app can read, including you. It is not sold, not shared for advertising, and never sent to our analytics provider.
Deleting your account. Settings → Delete All Data erases everything on the device and, if you are signed in, deletes your account from our servers: the account itself, your email address, and your profile. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke the connection, so Void stops appearing under Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple. If any server-side step fails, the app tells you so rather than reporting success.
A shared-routines feature existed in early test versions. If you took part during testing, your routine participation records may still be stored, and the same Delete All Data removes them.
You can delete all app data at any time from Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all local data, and – if you are signed in – your account and server-side data as well. Deletion is immediate. If you have already uninstalled the app, see Delete Your Account and Data for how to ask us to do it for you.
All data in transit between the app and our service providers is encrypted with TLS. Server-side data (accounts) is encrypted at rest and access is restricted to the developer. On-device data is protected by your device's own encryption and the app sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we minimise risk by collecting as little personal data as possible and keeping everything else on your device.
We do not use your data for profiling or for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
This policy covers Void only. Links above lead to third-party sites governed by their own policies.
If you are an EU or EEA resident, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because Void keeps your practice data on your device, most of these rights are in your hands directly. For anything server-side (your account, or questions about crash/analytics data), email info@voidmind.app – we respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Legal bases for processing:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. The limited data described above (anonymous crash/analytics events, purchase receipts) is used only to operate and improve the app.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to request correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of them, use the in-app controls (Settings → Data) or email info@voidmind.app. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We respond within 45 days.
Void is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Meditating needs no account, so a child can use the app without giving us anything at all. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. For material changes (for example, if the shared-routines feature launches), we will note the change prominently in the app before it takes effect.
